1993 Dutch Army Knife by Victorinox

This is the previous model of the Dutch Army Knife (DAK), made by Victorinox. It is the same as the 111mm Centurion model, but without the tweezers and toothpick and with a Dutch military logo embossed in the front scale.

It was first issued in 1993 and had been the standard knife for the Dutch military until it was replaced by a new model in 2010. The DAK 2010 has 2 one-handed (OH) opening blades while the 1993 model has only a single, non-OH, liner locking blade.

Victorinox 1993 Dutch Army KnifeWhile this is the 1993 model, I don’t know when these 2 knives were manufactured exactly. They have different tang stamps on the large blade: one has the additional text STAINLESS on the tang, which I think makes that knife a bit newer.

Victorinox Multitool by Theo Klein

This is a cool toy, made by Theo Klein. It’s quite big, red, and very cool. It has a saw, spoon, fork, bottle opener (with screwdriver), whistle and even a magnifying glass!

I bought it as a present for my nephew, but I got one for myself as well ;)

White Victorinox Huntsman

My very first Victorinox Swiss Army knife was a black Huntsman. I EDC’d it for several years but I lost it in 2000 or so. This white one is a newer model, with a slightly thinner tang (large blade) and the new “Victorinox Swiss Made Stainless” text on the tang.

White Victorinox HuntsmanThis one originally came with nylon scales with a company logo on them, which I swapped for these classy white ones.

Victorinox Handyman

The Handyman is a pretty large, 6 layer Swiss Army Knife. It adds scissors, pliers, a wood saw, a metal saw (with metal file and nail file), a chisel, a fine screwdriver and (since 1991) a multi-purpose hook to the basis Spartan model. The one in the pictures is an older knife since it has no multi-purpose hook, it has a “fluted” corkscrew and the scissors have a screw.¬† It was probably made between 1985 and 1991.

Red Victorinox HandymanThis knife does not have the original scales, since those were too badly scratched. I fitted the ones from a Camper on this Handyman, with a hot stamped Camping logo (which is awful compared to the metal inlaid Camping logo). I should bring it back to it’s original state and replace those with regular, red cellidor scales. And yes, I know the scales don’t fit well, there is a gap between the scales and the outer liners ;)

Update: it now has black scales. Way better! :)
